Scrapbook, [ca. 1851-ca. 1904].

This manuscript opens with Greene's account of a voyage from New Bedford, Ma. to the Azores, where he was going to recover from ill health. In his narrative, Greene described weather conditions, his impressions of crew members, encounters with whales, islands along the way, going through customs, and other amusing incidents that occurred during the journey. The remainder of the volume contains clippings of newspaper articles written by or about Greene along with wood engravings and advertisements of hotels and other buildings Greene encountered in his travels. Clippings feature Greene's appointments and elections to various civic boards, statements and letterheads from the Vineland bank, items related to the Red Deer Co., notices of his arrival in different towns, and columns he wrote for the Vineland newspaper. Also included are handwritten notes on such topics as temperance, railroads in the United States, facts about "famous" people, and notable quotations. Much of this information was used in articles he wrote for the newspaper. Greene also maintained a list of sermons given in Vineland churches in 1881 and 1882.
